Resumen
Several authors report that oxygen breathing, in hyperoxics concentrations, provides some
advantages such as increased physical performance. As a result of these studies, hyperoxia has
been used in the preparation of elite athletes in order to obtain greater volume and intensity of
running during the training. This way, this article relates a research aimed to investigate the
effect of hyperoxia (35% O2) on physical performance and on the recovery in futsal players. To
this end, nine futsal players (mean age = 22,8 DP = 2,6) underwent two tests of maximal effort
(in normoxia and hyperoxia) anda variables measured such LC (lactate), HR (heart rate), time,
distance and final running speed of the treadmill test. The hyperoxia (35% O2) was done before
the maximal running test on the treadmill for 30 minutes, without identification of the situation
the participants, if they were in (hyperoxia or normoxia). The study allowed to conclude that
hyperoxia use (35% O2) for thirty minutes before physical effort was not enough to provide
positive effects of performance increase or on the studied physiological variables.
