Resumen
Anesthetics in ophthalmic surgery require, in addition to an adequate anesthetic protocol for the transoperative period, a conduct that ensures an appropriate postoperative period for the patient, according to the procedure to be performed. Phacoemulsification surgery, also known as cataract, requires adequate drug selection according to the needs that the procedure itself requires and the physiological particularities to be observed. Cataract is a non-physiological lens opacity that has different etiologies such as senility, trauma, hereditary defects, infections and metabolic causes. The treatment of choice is surgical phacoemulsification to remove the cataract. The present work intends to report five anesthetic procedures in phacoemulsification surgeries in four canines performed at the University Veterinary Hospital of the UFSM.
