Resumen
The research addresses textile manipulation from the perspective of Surface Design with as references artists who use embroidery as expression. Thus, textile surfaces were developed through experiments with different materials and techniques, making use of banners as support. The theme for the making of surfaces comprises the author’s personal memories. Regarding the methodological and creative processes, we used the problematization phase proposed by Gui Bonsiepe (1984), the semantic panels presented by Garner & Mcdonagh-Philp (2001), as well as the mental maps suggested by De Oliveira Lima (2008) and the artist’s notebook of Rocha (2010). Relevant studies related to Surface Design, prints, evolution of printing processes, textile manipulation, banners and memory were also made. The results of the creative and methodological processes were used in the development of prints for application in banners. In this way, the experiments performed in order to identify the best alternatives are presented in six banners for decorative use.
