Resumen
Jump-landing tasks are a part of many sports. They are dynamic activities performed by recreational athletes and physically active people that, depending on the task technique, can put these individuals at higher risk for knee ligament injuries. Among those injuries is the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, which is more frequent in women and occurs mainly through non-contact mechanisms. Because it is a common injury occurring in younger populations, it is important to investigate ways for preventing this injury. Currently, the use of compressive garments has been investigated as a strategy for injury prevention or improvement of sports performance. The aim of this study was to determine whether a compressive garment influence the kinetics and kinematics of different jump-landing tasks. Physically active women (n=27) were evaluated performing different jump-landing tasks with two clothing conditions (compressive shorts and regular sports shorts). The compressive garment decreased the range of motion of the participants, without significant changes in the kinetic variables or the maximum jump height, which allows suggesting the use of a compressive garment reduced risk factors for knee injuries.
