This work aims to investigate the scenario of teaching and research in Ethics of the Archivology Course of the Federal University of Santa Maria, specifically, the relationship between the teaching of Ethics and its impact on the research developed by the students on the subject. Therefore, through the institutional website of the course on the web, the ementário and mandatory minimum bibliography of the discipline Ethics and Archival Legislation of the PPC of the course of 2004 was verified. After all, the CTCs produced by the students of the course and made available in the Laboratory of Arrangement, Description and Memory were identified, those who deal with themes related to Ethics, and it was verified that of 249 TCCs, only 4 deal on Ethics or peripheral subjects, a total of only 1.6% of the collection. With the selected TCCs, their central themes, keywords, type and nature of research, relationships of research with Ethics, compliance with their proposed objectives and, specifically, bibliographies used in CTCs were analyzed. of students' TCCs. Of the 103 bibliographic references found in the 4 TCCs surveyed, 42 references related to ethics, about 41% of the total. Of these 42 references identified and analyzed, none have a replica in the ementário of the discipline of Ethics and Archival Legislation. It was evidenced that, due to the curriculum being outdated, students are looking for bibliographies that are most commonly used today for the production of their CTCs.
