Soft power e diplomacia cultural como ferramentas de política externa: o caso da ascensão chinesa e o Instituto Confúcio

Abstract

The present research has as main focus to analyze how China, a rising power, has been using soft power resources to implement and strengthen its foreign policy. To this end, this work focuses on researching the plural categories of power, taking as a starting point the classifications of hard and soft power proposed by Joseph Nye from the 1990s onwards. There is also an analysis of the historical changes that occurred in China. during the contemporary period so that it becomes possible to understand the arrival of a country in the Global South in the category of great power. In addition, there is a study on the soft power tools used by China, in an attempt to create a positive image of its country in the international system, with a special focus on Confucius Institutes.
