dc.description.abstractThis paper presents a study that deals with the theme democratic management and seeks to identify the contribution of parents and teachers circles (CPMs in Portuguese), school boards and management teams in the realization of democratic management in public schools of the municipal network of Arroio do Meio / RS. The problem pointed questions if the forms of participation proposed by the management teams to parents and the community, slightly favors the democratization of school management.A study was conducted about the democratic management of the school concepts taking into account the new National Education Plan, the law of democratic management and the functions and contributions of school boards for the realization of a more open and participative management. To develop the study was used the exploratory qualitative research based on data collection. Data were collected through the application of an interview script with open questions directed to the presidents of the circles of parents and teachers and school councils. Research has shown that school boards and Circle of parents and teachers are important effective agents of democratic management in school and they participate by mobilizing and call the school management, decisions, school activities and conduction grading school management as democratic.
