Resumen
The analysis of the agricultural activity involves medium-term aspects in function of the volume of investments required. However, some variables necessary for the evaluation of investments are unavailable in the agricultural sector. This monograph performs a medium-term analysis targeting the evaluation of the economic viability of soybean production in an area of 235 hectares, in Júlio de Castilhos and Tupanciretã, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The monograph is characterized as a case study, of exploratory and quantitative character in the approach of the problem. Capital budgeting techniques such as internal rate of return, net present value and uniform annual value were used under different probabilistic scenarios. Considering the average historical value of soybean, the current behavior of operating expenses and a discount rate of 11.58% per year, it concludes to be necessary 45 bags of soybeans per hectare to add economic value to the business.
