The present research has the objective of presenting the experience of graduates graduated from the Course of Archivology of the Federal University of Santa Maria, facing the challenges and difficulties encountered from the academic formation to the entry into the labor market. The study was carried out with the graduates of the Course of Archivology that were formed in the period from 2009 to 2013. Considering that the labor market for the students graduated by the Course is in evolution between the public sectors and in the private sector. Faced with this, there is the academic training and continuing education that the professional can perform and, also, their insertion in the job market. The research was classified as descriptive with a qualitative / quantitative approach, a questionnaire was used to collect data from the cited period, composed of 44 open and closed questions. After analyzing the results, it was concluded that they are mostly female, between 25 and 34 years of age, with a public sector salary, with up to four minimum salaries, most of them are archivists and technicians on file, have residency in Santa Maria, but work in other cities and some have opted for other Brazilian states such as the North-AM and South-SC Regions. Most graduates have only a degree in archivology and very few have already completed postgraduate studies at the level of specialization and masters, although those who have not yet completed a postgraduate course intend to carry out the possibility of expanding knowledge in the future. In the labor market they feel a devaluation of the professional and difficulties in performing the documentary management in the institutions, however, they consider pertinent the challenges and the difficulties presented in this trajectory. As a methodological course, consultations were carried out on websites, as well as readings in articles, bibliographical studies, and books on the area of professional training. There was the suggestion of graduates of the Course to deepen their knowledge in the area of GED, digital information and information preservation, to obtain greater professional growth, as it would be very promising.
