This work is a research developed during the Specialization Course in Educational Management, of the Postgraduate Program in Public Policy and Educational Management (PPPG) of the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM). Such research is an attempt to reread popular education and self-management in order to understand the discourse (s) produced about popular education and self-management in the context of the Collective Praxis of Popular Education. Praxis is a collective linked to UFSM that acts as a social movement of popular education and is self-managed by its components. Thus, we tried to present, through a historical contextualization, some notions of popular education in Brazil; to understand the possible meanings of self-management in the educational context and their relationship with the popular education and democratic management discourses; to contextualize the Collective Praxis of Popular Education of Santa Maria / RS and to produce an analytical from the connections between self-management and popular education in Collective Praxis, through Critical Discourse Analysis (ACD). Therefore, a discursive analysis was performed in documents such as the Statute and the Collective Project as well as in the social, political and discursive practices of the collective. This analytical perspective understands discourse as a constructive practice of world meanings. . Thus, the Collective Práxis presents itself as a hybridized discursive production in which popular education and self-management are re / signified in a democratic/neoliberal discursive negotiation/dispute. This fact represents a perspective of social change from the discourse, encompassing modes of transgression, border crossing, such as the gathering of existing conventions in new combinations.
