Entre olhares: processo de criação em dança de salão contemporânea

Abstract

The present work aims to present the ballroom dance with a contemporary artistic vision, through ethnographic and self-ethnographic study. The artistic process was performed with a group of women with prior knowledge of ballroom dancing.The aim was to present, from a theoretical point of view, ballroom dancing, with the aim of better understanding what is contemporary ballroom dancing. The procedures used in the composition of the work resulting from this research united the author's experiences with ballroom dancing and, mainly, her participant observation in the 18th Dance Week of Mimulus Dance Company, Belo Horizonte / MG, in order to understand how creation and composition, as well as the transposition of ballroom dancing to the scene. Understanding dance as a space for culture and education, this research can contribute by fostering discussions about artistic practices in ballroom dancing.
