dc.description.abstractThis work aims to investigate the cultural heritage of Santa Cruz do Sul, with an emphasis on documentary heritage of the following files: Gazeta do Sul; Archive CEDOC UNISC; Archive Diocese of Santa Cruz; Archive of the Evangelical Parish Santa Cruz and the Municipal Historical Archive. The criterion used in selecting these five files was that of relevance. The methodology consisted of: 1) theoretical framework, the themes: cultural heritage, cultural heritage in Brazil, tumbling, cultural heritage and memory, heritage education, archival, life cycle of documents or the theory of three ages, the principle of provenance; 2) descriptive research: interviews with manages of each file. The results indicate that the files searched, there is no interference from a professional in the field of archival science, or the file is coordinated by a historian or an administrative assistant. Most files are searched by people seeking information about your family tree for dual German citizenship.
