Resumen
The work and advancement of the means of communication to support it are constantly evolving, mainly due to the development of technologies that facilitate collaboration between people, making it possible for the members of the organization to work together even in physical dispersion. Telecommuting programs must be carefully planned and implemented, and organizations must take the necessary steps to reduce the potential negative effects and magnify the positive effects. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, health authorities recommended the remote work regime to prevent employees from meeting in the same place. Innovative companies operate in environments of uncertainty and need to be able to transform and change the course of business. One of the most notable developments in financial markets over the past decade has been the rise of unicorn companies, which are innovative companies that have achieved $1 billion in market valuations without access to public capital. While the role of information and communication technologies in teleworking is well studied, the community lacks research that examines the effects of teleworking on innovative companies. The objective of this work is to analyze remote work management in innovative startups based on unicorn startups. The construction steps of this research are the systematic literature review, exploratory-descriptive phase, data collection technique and data analysis technique. The concept of remote work and its context in the current economic scenario are presented, characteristics of the evolution of this work model in light of technological development and the new way of considering work. It presents the pandemic scenario, remote work in the Brazilian context and the concept of startups classified as unicorns, with the presentation of growth in the world scenario. A qualitative study was carried out with ten unicorn startups through a semi-structured collection instrument. Despite being considered a flexible and potentially successful work system, the way in which organizations resorted to teleworking raised many questions and challenges in the context of their existing processes, procedures, capacities and infrastructures. The theoretical perspectives and empirical results found suggest that knowledge transfer and collaboration are affected by the modes of communication that workers use to collaborate with each other. As innovative companies have aligned their organizational systems and processes with new technological possibilities, the use of remote work has become an important strategy that can make startups more dynamic and more efficient, reducing their transaction costs, increasing agility, compete internationally and improve customer interaction and loyalty while overcoming localization challenges. With regard to the effects on individuals, there is a reduction in commuting time, an improvement in the quality of life, a better balance between work and personal life, and an increase in work efficiency and productivity. For innovative organizations, you can see savings in office space and real estate costs, putting themselves in a position to attract and retain experienced employees. Organizations are likely to shift to a hybrid working model, in which employees divide their time between telecommuting and office work, or a mixed model, in which companies are made up of a mix of full-time and remote workers. full employees full-time office workers. The proposed framework opens the remote work implementation stage and helps to understand the role when the organization decides to adopt a certain work model for one or more organizational units, individuals and/or tasks.
