dc.description.abstractThe objective was to verify food consumption according to the degree of food processing and nutritional status of pregnant women in prenatal consultations in a municipality in the northwest region of the state of RS. Cross-sectional study with pregnant women in prenatal care in three units of the Family Health Strategy (FHS). A Food Frequency Questionnaire (QFCA) was applied, converted into frequency of daily, weekly, monthly consumption and never. The foods were classified as fresh or minimally processed, culinary ingredients, processed foods and ultra-processed foods, according to the Food Guide for the Brazilian Population, 2014. Anthropometric data were measured when the questionnaire was applied and complied with the Atalah chart. (1997), the pre-gestational weight was the one mentioned in the Caderneta da Gestante and stimulus according to the IOM (2009). 16 pregnant women were interviewed, with an average age of 28 ± 7.39 years. Half of the sample showed pre-gestational overweight and at the time of the research it evolved to 56.25%. As overweight and obese pregnant women low intake of fruits, vegetables, legumes and legumes. Already underweight and eutrophic they have a varied diet, but more often by ultra-processed foods. Sugar was the culinary ingredient consumed daily. Processed foods dissipate a regular consumption, regardless of nutritional status. It was concluded that the food consumption of pregnant women varied according to their nutritional status, showing low consumption of fresh or processed foods processed by overweight and obese pregnant women and a higher consumption of ultra-processed foods by low weight and eutrophic pregnant women.
