Resumen
Approximately two million people die each year due to accidents at work and occupational diseases. In Brazil, the annual average of accidents is approximately 550 thousand cases. The objective of the study was to evaluate the occurrences of occupational accidents in the state of Paraná, during the period from 2007 to 2017. The analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and the correspondence analysis. A documentary research was carried out, using data on the website of the Ministry of Labor and Employment/Annual List of Social Information (MTE/RAIS), Ministry of Social Security/Statistical Yearbook on Work Accidents (MPS/AEAT), Fundacentro and Instituto Brasileiro de Geography and Statistics (IBGE). As a result, it was identified that 69.20% of accidents occurred in males and the age group with the highest records of accidents found was between 25 and 29 years old. On average Paraná recorded 50 thousand accidents / year, this represents approximately 10% of accidents in Brazil. Accidents recorded in the total study period were 555,700 cases in the state. Of these, 73% were recorded as typical accidents. It was also identified that the two activities that generated the most occurrences were the activity related to hospital care and slaughter of pigs, birds and small animals, representing 14.4% of the occurrences in Paraná. The research was limited to addressing only formal state jobs. For future work, it is recommended to add informal work and redo the analyzes, trying to identify the types of activities, age group and gender prevalent in the occurrences, in order to compare with this study. As a second suggestion, it is recommended to verify what are the impacts that these activities have in relation to public health and social security in the state.
