dc.description.abstractThe emission of pollutants directly affects the quality of human life, therefore, ways are increasingly sought to increase the sustainability of economic activities. The present work aims to research the main sources of pollutants in transport systems and present solutions to improve air quality through the rationalization of displacement processes. Among the main sources of pollutants, and which will be addressed in this study, are the activities related to the use of combustion vehicles for displacement, whether cargo, through trucks, or people, through private transport (for example, car) or by public transport (eg bus). It will be demonstrated through research reviews, the critical situations for the increase in the emission of pollutants, such as, for example, sources of congestion, such as tolls. Finally, examples of how traffic engineering can mitigate the emission of pollutants will be demonstrated. The present study will be based on bibliographic research.
