dc.description.abstractIntrusion detection systems are of great value for the prevention of attacks on computer networks. They make an analysis of the data traffic to take conclusions on when these attacks are occurring. But they need a tool that can do such data collection, the well known sniffers, so that they can properly work. This work presents the project of a sniffer that deals with data capture on a specific way focused on the use for anomaly based intrusion detection systems that use time series or mere traffic counters. Making sure that the access to this captured information is in a fast and low cost way.
