Autolesão e intenção suicida em adolescentes de uma escola pública do interior do RS: fatores de risco e de proteção

Mental health has turned on warning lights all over the world due to the growing number of mental illnesses, among the most worrying and alarming issues is suicide as a worldwide public health problem. The period of adolescence is considered to be at risk for ideation and suicide attempts, especially when associated with depression, however, such isolated aspects are not decisive, but can increase the individual's vulnerability. Objective: To identify risk and protective factors in adolescents with self-injurious behavior and suicidal intent. Methodology: This is a quantitative research, of an exploratory nature, in order to address questioned and delimited information so that the object of knowledge can be analyzed and quantified statistically. Results: A sample consisted of 43 adolescents, aged 12 to 16, with an average of 14 years. Of the sample collected, 79.1% are female and 20.9% male. Among the interpersonal relationship, with mother and father, a better relationship with the maternal figure can be observed. While in relation to the school environment with colleagues and teachers, the quality of the relationship was considered good. The use of alcohol and / or other drugs was related by 58.1% of adolescents. Regarding the occurrence of self-harm, suicidal thoughts and attempts to take one's own life affect whether the female population is more affected. Conclusion: It was identified that alcohol is a risk factor among adolescents, as well as the disruption of the family structure. The school is identified as a protective factor where adolescents feel protected.
