dc.description.abstractThis study relates the use of retaining structures compound by a cantilever wall made of reinforced concrete and the respective analysis methods, parameters adoption, desing, incorporating the application of geotechnical software. The study subject comprehends cantilever walls without counterforts, counting with a classic geometry, retaining distinct heights of basalt residual soil, whose parameters will be maintained constant. The analysis methods are presented and demonstrated, first through analytic methods followed for the application on the software GEO5, comparing both. In addition, the influence that the earth pressure theory causes on dimensioning are verified likewise the inclusion of different project conditions imposed for the water retention and the surcharge loading acting on the earth-retaining, analyzing the impact over the structural stability and safety through the different heights.The results show the influence that the wall height causes on the acting loads and design, which get cryptic over the 4,0m. Additionally, there is an acceptable approximation between the results obtained through the analytic method and the software GEO5, besides the practicability provided for it. Also, the results which consider the water retention on the earth-retaining show the drainage system's importance in this kind of structure according to the effect provoked on the stability, which, in several cases, conducts to the collapse.
