Citizenship is part of the contents to be addressed in sociology discipline in high school, so, this study emphasized the following research problem: "How it looks and what the connection between sociology and citizenship education in the national curriculum guidelines?". Aiming to "identify how the teaching of sociology engaged in citizen training in high school," the study included a literature search for the explanation of the information that deal with the theme of civic education and the teaching of sociology. To this end, four points were addressed: Sociology: context and appearance; Citizenship and civic education; Sociology and Citizenship; and National Curriculum Standards. One result of the study reveals that the mention of the concept of citizenship is tied to prepare students to exercise citizenship as well as their integration into society.
