The following article presents the flipped classroom as a strategy for the teaching of Sociology through the approach of the thematic "Gender, Sexuality and Diversity" on "Education of Young Adults - EJA". This text is a report on the experience had on an activity carried out in the second semester of 2015 during the classes of Sociology teached to the students from grades equivalent to the second year of regular high school. The objective of said activity was to build the students' knowledge through the distinction between scientific knowledge and common sense, which helped create an understanding as to why they were learning Sociology. Furthermore, the activity enabled on the students a posture of questioning and critical thinking, allowing them to start deconstructing a series of pre-conceived and naturalized ideas, as well as understanding society as something historical and cultural.
