dc.description.abstractThe prostate diseases are common in aged dogs and sexually virgin. The clinical signals can be divided in systemic signals, signals of alterations of the low urinary tract, abnormalitys in the defecation and the locomotion. The incidence of these alterations is of 2,5%, raising itself for 8% in aged males with more than 10 years old. It enters the some alterations that can occur in the prostate gland, the main ones are: benign prostatic hyperplasia/hypertrophy, prostatitis (acute or chronic), abcesses, prostatic and paraprostatic cysis and neoplasias . With exception of acute bacterial prostatitis, the prostate diseases can be appear without the presence of any clinical signal. This paper has as objective to present a bibliografica revision about prostatic disorders in dogs as well as clinicos signals, methodology of diagnosis and treatment options.
