Resumen
The present study has the general objective of analyzing the performance of Special Education students as monitors in common schools in Santa Maria/RS
As a qualitative research, the methodological processes were based on the State of the Art of productions published in the area and a search in public policies about what is stated about the role of the school monitor. In addition, narrative interviews were carried out via Google Meet with four academics from the Special Education course in the day and night modalities who act or acted as monitors during graduation. The interviews started from three initial points: the role that academics played as monitors in schools, their relationship with the regent teacher in the regular classroom and their relationship with the Special Education teacher. From the bibliographic search and the analysis of the interviews, it was possible to see that there is still a divergence between what appears in public policies on the role played by the support professional/school monitor and their functions in the school context. Added to this, it is important to have communication between the subjects who work in schools so that there is greater favoring of inclusive processes.
