Along the last years, it has been investigated the use of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems to improve the performance of Power Line Communications (PLC). The high demand of broadband services has pushed forward the development of high-speed PLC applications. However, few attention has been given to the improvement of narrowband technologies. Thus, in this study, we propose a novel transmission technique for narrowband MIMO PLC systems, by using a pre-processor in the transmitter modem which is configured through the information received from the feedback channel. The preprocessors determine the signal transmitted by each power line in order to maximize the instantaneous signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in the receiver. Simulation results show that the technique proposed exhibits a performance gain over the scheme proposed by Campos, Machado and Ribeiro. Finally, the technique proposed achieve a BER (bit error rate) performance close of the lower bound, considering only a few feedback bits.
