The learning of oral and written language is one of the most important elements to facilitate our communication with the environment in which we are inserted. Nowadays, children relate to written language, perceiving their use, characteristics and modalities, sometimes even long before they begin school. Working with language is one of the basic axes in early childhood education, because of its importance for the formation of the person, for interaction with other people, for the construction of different knowledge and for the development of thought. A bibliographical research on the subject was carried out, based on authors such as Vygotsky (2001), Bakhtin (1992), among others, as well as official documents such as RCNEI (BRAZIL, 1998), BNCC (BRAZIL, 2018) and DCNEI (BRAZIL, 2009). Thus, this article aims to analyze the issues that involve the teaching of oral and written language in the classrooms of Early Childhood Education, its importance in the process of teaching and learning of young children, and also discuss some pedagogical practices about this theme. The results obtained according to this research show the importance of working oral and written language in the classroom. It was noticed that this practice should be focused on children's interests, so it respects the individuality and the learning time of each one, focusing in developing activities that arouse their interest and curiosity, also introducing games, since in Early Childhood Education, it is considered one of the main activity of daily school life. It is concluded that the learning of oral and written language is of great importance for the integral development of children, because from it, it is possible that they expand their possibilities of inclusion and participation in different social practices.
