Resumen
The main objective of this monograph is to analyze the political satire and social inequality in
the works of Débora Arango, Massacre of April 9, 1948 (1948) and El cementerio de la chusma
y / o mi cabeza (1951), consequently, the central question that motivates me in this monograph
is: how does the teacher Débora Arango resort to the satirical image in the enunciated works?
This study justifies her personal interest in art and her interdisciplinary reflection.
On the other hand, the theoretical foundation it presents is distributed as follows: in the first
moment, the theories of Mijaíl Bajtín, José Emilio Burucúa and Mathew Hodgart will be taken;
in the second, the artist Débora Arango Pérez and Santiago Londoño Vélez will be employed;
finally, in the third, the contributions of Mijaíl Bajtín and Umberto Eco will be taken into
account. Regarding the methodology used, the qualitative paradigm takes into account the type
of semiotic studies. One of the conclusions reached is the importance of satire in Débora
Arango's pictorial works, since it offers multiple faces, hence there are multiple interpretations.
The invitation is to contemplate and analyze social problems in the paintings, and also to not
ignore that hope flourishes, despite not forgetting our past. In this way, it is expected to
contribute to critical and analytical thinking from works of art and to rethink the Colombian
reality in which we live.
