Abstract

The world is changing faster and faster and everything is perceived as temporary, transient and unstable. The material environment and the knowledge, beliefs, values and ideas that people profess vary. In recognising the immense diversity of possible worldviews and ways of life, confidence in absolute and universal truths fades away, but the need for dialogue and agreement to adapt to new realities together and to promote transformations that help to guarantee the sustainability of our life on the planet grows. The task is urgent, and although we have tools that allow us to communicate in real time, to coordinate efforts and achieve common objectives, we face major obstacles, such as the current socioeconomic model. By promoting growing inequality - between regions and within countries - it drastically limits the opportunities for development and well-being of many people, which can be seen in violent acts, injustices and human rights violations.
