Resumen
Course objective: To establish the relationship between self-efficacy and engagement with psychological exhaustion "burnout" in dentistry at the Santo Tomás University. Materials and Methods: With an observational cross-sectional study, 138 students from the seventh to tenth semester of dentistry were evaluated, with the virtual application of the Burnout questionnaires (Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI)), self-efficacy questionnaire (The General Self-efficacy Scale ( EAG) -Schwarzer and Jerusalem) and Engagement questionnaire (UWES (Utrecht Work), additionally sociodemographic aspects were evaluated such as (age, sex, marital status, socioeconomic status, work and study, study option, approval of subjects, with whom they live and number of children) Informed consent was applied when starting the virtual questionnaire, the data were analyzed with non-parametric statistics and finally with a multiple regression model in the STATA14 IC software, the project was endorsed by the research committe from the faculty of dentistry of the Santo Tomas University School of Dentistry. Results: Those evaluated showed a statistically significant association in the performance staff with variables such as studying and working and having children. There was a slight negative correlation between MBI, EAG and UWES, a moderate correlation negative between depersonalization and dedication, and for personal accomplishment a positive correlation with total engagement, vigor and dedication. The regression model shows that studying and working, in addition to having children, can reduce personal fulfillment. Finally, a correlation between vigor and absorption dimensions with personal fulfillment is evidenced. Conclusion: The dimension of personal fulfillment of the MBI questionnaire is positively related to the self-efficacy and engagement questionnaires as well as its three dimensions. MBI depersonalization is contrary to self-efficacy and engagement. The emotional exhaustion of the MBI is contrary to self-efficacy and engagement, except in the dimensions of dedication and absorption.
