Resumen
Access to housing and a clean environment is a human right; however, it is observed how, for one reason or another, it is violated in many parts of the world. Under this premise, a documentary research was conducted, with the aim of analyzing the implementation of bricks manufactured from recyclable plastic - Brickarp system - in the construction of single-family homes in Colombia. The results indicate that the plastics that can be used for the manufacture of construction materials, belong to the group of thermoplastics, where polyethylene terephthalate stands out, which is part of a set of materials made and evaluated under technical parameters, resistant to humidity, corrosion, putrefaction, excellent thermal insulation, acoustic and electrical and fire retardant, low weight and that does not require specialized labor for assembly, feasible to replace much of the stone aggregates in buildings. Seen in this way, the Brickarp System contributes to the solution of the housing deficit in Colombia, due to its intrinsic characteristics and its excellent cost-benefit ratio, it contributes to reduce pollution and deterioration of natural resources, due to the extraction and disposal of materials in traditional construction, and the recycling of a contaminating element, with an increasing accumulation and prolonged degradation phase, such as plastic.
