This book, Public Art and Pedagogy, constitutes a contribution of enormous importance for the country's teachers, since it compiles in a serious and didactic way many of the main public monuments that inhabit the country's cities. Through the
pages of this work it is possible to reconstruct in a simple way the history of Colombian art with its main tendencies, at the same time that the cards elaborated for each monument allow to make a route by the regions of Colombia and by the time of our cultural history from the pre-Columbian time until our days.
Children and young people have the supreme right to be able to inhabit the world, their world, their environment. But this process is not possible from the irrationality and ignorance that does not allow to see in all the cultural heritage more than things put there at random. It is necessary to understand, decipher and value so that all this heritage acquires meaning and, at the same time, to learn how to care for it and defend it as the memory of the people is defended. The vandalism that ruins artistic jewels and traces of the passing of the nation's life can only be countered with pedagogical tools like the one we have now.
