dc.description.abstractDescription: The processes of globalization have led education to the implementation of didactic strategies that attract the attention of students in the acquisition of new knowledge, while developing the necessary skills to face the social and labor demands according to the level of education . Additionally, mastery of a second language represents a success factor, according to the demands of the current work context that requires an international connection and updating of first-hand knowledge. Contents: In the introduction the objective of the implementation of a didactic strategy is proposed in order to enhance the communication skills in the mastery of a second language (English) in the students of the SENA diesel engine program. In this way, the work is reviewed in several instances, first the meaning of didactic strategy; Second, the importance of teaching English as a second language and, ultimately, the contextualization of SENA as one of the largest public institutions with the greatest coverage for academic training. Conclusions: The research work allowed us to recognize that teaching is a process with many variables where interaction between several subjects is required; For this reason, cooperation and the implementation of teaching strategies facilitate learning. The experience and practice of the knowledge transmitted to students allows them to create links and foster new attitudes to build more knowledge. Meaningful learning plays a very important role in the educational process since finding meaning in the knowledge acquired can be used as prior knowledge in other contexts.
