Resumen
The global innovation index (GII) for 2019 is presented within the framework of the Andean Community of Nations (CAN) regional integration agreement made up of Colombia, Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia. Methodologically, the non-experimental approach of descriptive scope is used with information from the global innovation index developed by Cornell University, the World Business School (INSAED) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). World Bank development indicators are also used. Subsequently, the macroeconomic variables of the four countries are described, followed by the institutional approach of the CAN and its state of maturity in regulatory and innovation matters. Finally, the GII of the countries involved is presented, describing their innovation schemes. This will identify the advantages of Colombia and Peru, and show the challenges for Bolivia and Ecuador. This made it possible to land on recommendations aimed at the Andean Community of Nations to balance the macroeconomic and innovation inequalities of the member countries.
