dc.description.abstract | Background: In the sports world, injuries are common, and athletes often push their bodies to the limits of human effort, using the maximum potential of their physical and coordinative capacities or exposing themselves to accidental and unforeseen situations during sports, such as the risks of Injury that increases in sports where physical contact is a fundamental part, generating a higher incidence of traumatic injuries such as concussions caused by blows or falls and that in recent years has attracted the attention of sports organizations, public health organizations and the population that practices sports itself. Concussion was an injury of which little was said due to the little knowledge that was had about its origin, symptoms and risks of incidence. Due to research efforts, it is possible to identify the broad reality of concussion, recognizing that it has a high probability of triggering progressive pathophysiological processes that affect the health of those who suffer a concussion. In response to this public health problem, the sports science community makes enormous efforts to find ways to prevent this injury, in order to mitigate health risks in sports practice. Justification: By recognizing concussion in sport as a public health problem, the need to propose different easily implemented prevention tools such as education and training programs is identified. Objective: To determine the effects of physical education and training programs on concussion risk mitigation in contact sports. Conclusions: There are currently educational tools that mitigate the risk of concussions during contact sports such as Rugby and American Football.
