Resumen
The book is the result of an academic effort derived from a research carried out in the line of research on human rights protection mechanisms at the Faculty of Jurisprudence of the Universidad del Rosario, in association with the Hanns Seidel Foundation. This work presents a reflection on the progress and challenges of constitutional actions in our country and aims to highlight their importance in Colombian laws, as tools for citizens to defend their rights, public interest, and human rights. Likewise, it seeks to understand them as mechanisms of citizen participation since they are tools created by the Constituent to control State actions; and, finally, to review the progress and gaps or aspects that should be improved in their application. We hope that this book is of interest and utility to those who, during almost thirty years of their existence, have paid attention to the importance of these actions and what they represent in terms of the progressiveness of laws as a guarantee of rights, as well as to those who want to learn in more depth about these rights protection mechanisms, which are becoming more relevant every day in terms of citizen participation and the exercise of citizens’ political rights within the framework of a social state of law.
