Resumen
Introduction: rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic degenerative disease that produces disability, generating high costs for the health system; However, when its early diagnosis is achieved and treatment is started in a timely manner, it implies an improvement in its prognosis, achieving remission in the best of cases or, minimizing long-term disability. Objective: To determine which factors (clinical, paraclinical, and sociodemographic) were associated with the remission of early rheumatoid arthritis in a cohort of patients treated at a rheumatology center in the city of Bogotá, Colombia. Methodology: This is an analytical prevalence study, where the relationship of the sociodemographic, clinical and paraclinical characteristics of patients with early rheumatoid arthritis that determined the evolution of the disease and associated with its remission was established. Results: 181 patients were recruited who after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria were reduced to 101, covering an age group between 18 and 91 years with a median of 49.5 years, with a mean duration of symptoms of 4 months. A relationship between citrullinated antibodies and disease remission was established. With the rest of the study variables, no association could be established. Discussion: By means of the following work, it is possible to establish the association of anti-citrulline antibodies and remission of the disease, showing that the presence of them reduces the possibility of disease remission, however, this conclusion lacks statistical significance probably explained due to a captive population.
