V-Associated Neurocognitive Disorder (HAND) is recognized as a current issue in people living with HIV (PLWH). Assessment processes for screening and diagnosis of HAND are heterogeneous y lack of consensus. This has triggered differences in prevalence report across the word and difficulties in the identification of comparable data. A systematic review was conducted to determine pertinence of cognitive assessment and occupational functioning scales for HAND screening and diagnosis analyzing cognitive domains, screening, occupational participation and mental health. There were 114 cross-sectional, case and control, cohort, and clinical trials studies included in the systematic review. Trail Making Test (TMT) and Stroop Color Word Test (SCWT) scales were identified as the most pertinent para cognitive domains assessment. As for occupational participation, instruments focusing on evaluation occupational performance during the execution of activities are needed, for complementing self-report scales such as The Patients Assessment of Own Functioning Inventory (PAOFI). Mental health is determined as a variable to evaluate transversally, due to the fact that is considered a confounding in the diagnosis of HAND.
