dc.description.abstractIntroduction: The oncohematology service of the Children's Hospital Los Ángeles de Pasto (HILA) diagnoses an average of 40 cases of de novo cancer annually in children under 18 years of age. Febrile neutropenia as an expected event was presented at the institution. Objective: To identify the clinical characteristics and laboratory parameters of episodes of febrile neutropenia in the pediatric oncohematology service of HILA in Pasto, Colombia, during 2013.: Series of clinical cases. All episodes of hospitalized febrile neutropenia in the pediatric oncohematology service of the Los Angeles Children's Hospital in Pasto, Colombia in 2013 were included.Results: 52 episodes of febrile neutropenia in 32 patients. The average age was 7.2 years, mostly men (62%), and the most frequent base disease was Acute Lymphoid Leukemia. Half of patients were diagnosed in-hospital. 5% had an absolute neutrophil count of less than 100 cells / mm3, and the most frequent fever range was 38?-38.9?. The most common infectious foci were respiratory and gastrointestinal, and the most widely used antibiotic regimen was Piperacillin / Tazobactam + Amikacin. The most frequent clinical complication was sepsis, and one case of death was presented.
