The article presents the results of a research on the urban growth of Bogotá in the first half of the 20th century. The aim is to analyze the housing land market and the roles played by landowners, developers, financial agents and municipal urban planning agencies in its consolidation. The study considers that capital ccumulation was the force that guided the urban growth in this period, and that it had decisive consequences in terms of land use patterns, the distribution of people and the urban structure. The research is based on notarial deeds of neighborhoods  naugurated during the period. The calculated data were obtained from georeferenced maps of neighborhoods.
