Características de la población desplazada que inciden en el acceso a los servicios de salud

Abstract

In Colombia, the armed conflict causes displacement of thousands of persons that suffer from its economic, social and health consequences. In spite the Government regulatory efforts they still face important problems getting access to health care. In order to analyse displaced population characteristics that affect their access to health care, a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive study was carried out by means of semi-structured individual interviews to a criterion sample of 81 main social actors. A narrative analysis of the contents was conducted, with mixed generation of categories and segmentation of data by themes and informants. The precarious economic situation, limited information and problems for the official accreditation of their condition as displaced persons limit their access to health care and the attention to their health problems. An effective governmental answer is required in order to guarantee their socioeconomic stabilization in the long term and the defense of their health right
