Abstract

This article reveals a particular enlightened activity related with the diffusion ofsome modern health practices carried out by a group of Neogranadian priests in theirterritory. The activities of some enlightened priests are studied regarding to some as­pects which were object of an attempt to reform or regulate by the Bourbon Monarchy,since the mid-eighteenth century: reorganisation and urban sanitation measures , aswell as the re location of cemeteries out of the Churchs; the rules to stop the progressof the epidemic, specially mumps, which decimated the population, and their rolesharing their knowledge of health in the villages.
