The projection of emerging powers is a phenomenon that demonstrates the will of some States to recover political spaces from the past or to attain a visibility they never had before. In the midst of this discussion, there are other nations with different ambitions, because their aim is not global. Turkey is one of these cases, as in recent years has projected itself in the region, sheltered in the cultural diplomacy and the use of soft power. Therefore, this article explores such situation in three dimensions: the Turkish history that highlights its most prominent characteristics, the role of Turkey during the Cold War that reveals a search for balance and, finally, its regional scope.
