dc.description.abstractThe United Nations Security Council is the body in charge of maintaining international peace and security in accordance with Article 24 of the Charter of San Francisco and is made up of fifteen members - five are permanent and ten are not - whose period is two years. In 2018, the General Assembly elected as new non-permanent members Germany, Belgium, Indonesia, the Dominican Republic and South Africa. During the period of that year, the Council issued 54 resolutions in which reference was made to the maintenance of peace and international security in territories such as the Middle East and Africa. Likewise, he made special emphasis on the consequences of the proliferation of nuclear weapons, referring to the constant experiments carried out by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
