Bosquejo sobre patrimonio cultural inmaterial y su relación con la historia de los inmigrantes en Aracataca durante el siglo XX

Abstract

El surgimiento a finales del siglo XIX del municipio de Aracataca en el departamento del Magdalena, localizado al norte de Colombia sobre el mar Caribe, y su evolución marcada por la construcción del ferrocarril y la implantación en la región de la compañía bananera United Fruit Company, se utilizan como referencias para describir los procesos migratorios de gentes provenientes de diversas regiones del mundo a lo largo del siglo XX que han aportado a la estructuración particular de esta población. Este hecho se relaciona con un análisis del marco teórico que ha llevado a la consolidación del concepto de patrimonio cultural e inmaterial para, de ese modo, evaluar el aporte que, con su historia y su legado, han hecho los inmigrantes al patrimonio cultural inmaterial propio de Aracataca.

Aracataca is a town located at the department of Magdalena, north of Colombia, on the Caribbean Sea. Its dawning by the end of 19th century together with its evolution signed by the railroad construction and the establishment of the United Fruit Company in the region, are used as a reference to describe the migratory processes of people coming from various regions of the world throughout the 20th century contributing to the peculiar structuring of the village. This fact is linked to an analysis on the theoretical frame that has led to the settlement of the concept of intangible cultural heritage in order to evaluate the contribution that migrants have done to the intangible cultural heritage of Aracataca.
