Work systems relate how people interact with the tasks and elements that make up them, under conditions determined either by the company or the environment, becoming a fundamental factor of analysis for the achievement of the objective organizations. The objective of the doctoral thesis aims to propose a methodology for the design of the work system in the process of manual harvesting of fruit trees under terrain slope conditions, very characteristic in the Colombian agricultural sector, influencing workers' productivity and safety. For this purpose, a systematic review of the literature was carried out to identify a knowledge gap in the field of study. The proposed methodology is developed in three phases, the first of which identifies the components of the work system in the field of study and its variables are defined, then the information collected is parameterized, through a fieldwork, is processed and analyzed statistically, to finally determine the crosses of the variables of the components of the work system, which best conform to the conditions of the environment and present the best indicators of productivity of the process and safety levels for the worker. The application of the methodology through field validation in citrus farm and the use of the template for the generation of crosses, made it possible to demonstrate the relevance of the analysis and verification of the hypotheses proposed in the research.
