Methodology: This is a cross-sectional and descriptive studyin whichtissu e samples were processed for microbiological analysis and whole blood and serum samples for immunological analysis of 113 patients with adverse events to the use of biopolymers in the city of Cali during 2019-2021. Results: Microbial isolates were identified in 22 patients (19.4%), 15 (13.2 %) presented mono-microbial infections and 7 (6.19 %) patients presented polymicrobial infections, the frequency of identified isolates was Bacillus cereus (n=8, 36,3 %), Mycobacterium fortuitum tipo 2 (n=5, 22,7 %) and Pseudomonas stutzeri (n=3, 13,6 %). An increase of CD4+ T cells was evidenced in the study population, however, the average cell phenotype was found below average compared to the reference value suggesting a tendency to immunosuppression with autoantibody expression in 78 (69.0%) patients of which SS-B/La (n=32, 60.3%), anti- Ku (n= 22, 28.2 %) and anti -PM-Scl (n=14, 17.9%) anti MPO (n=51, 91.0%) were the most frequent. The association of microorganisms, inflammation and autoimmunity to the use of modeling substances are relevant findings for their control.
