Social support is a protective factor that, due to the characteristics of hegemonic masculinity, tends to be problematized, this does not allow man to obtain the benefits of its experience. In order to identify the approaches to the concepts of social support, masculinity and the relationship between them, in the scientific literature, 78 articles after 2015 and indexed in Scopus with the search criteria "social support" and "masculinity", are analyzed through a scope review, identifying that the concept of social support is worked from a dimension focused on the source of social support, and another focused on the type of social support, prevailing in the first, the views that recognize, as a source, the peers and the family group, and, in the second, the approaches that conceptualize it around emotional validation, experience and group membership. In relation to masculinity, two dimensions are identified, a predominant one that conceptualizes masculinity as a stable identity with fixed characteristics associated to the hegemonic masculinity, and another, with an increasing tendency, that recognizes the existence of diverse masculinities, which are dynamic, contextual and hierarchical. Regarding the relationship between masculinity and social support, two dimensions are identified, where the predominant one addresses masculinity as a factor that hinders the experience of the benefits of social support, while the second rescues characteristics associated with hegemonic masculinity as potential resources that can promote a generative experience of social support. It is pointed out the need to promote approaches that respond to the forms of social support that men experience, and that recognize the experience of masculinity as dynamic, contextual and governed by dynamics of oppression.
