Introduction: the family caregiver of the person with cancer in palliative care assumes several challenges due to patient care. The support that the caregiver receives in many cases is insufficient, as a consequence the caregiver experiences uncertainty in illness and a decrease in their quality of life. To date, the literature does not report interventions to address this problem in this population. Objectives: to determine the feasibility, acceptability and potential effects of the nursing intervention “PaliActive Caregivers” in reducing uncertainty in illness and improving the quality of life of family caregivers of patients with cancer in palliative care in a health institution in Medellin-Colombia. Methodology: phase II clinical trial. A sample of 70 family caregivers of people with cancer in palliative care were included. The percentage of recruitment and follow-up of the participants in the study was measured, the acceptability with the intervention designed through a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews, and finally, the uncertainty in illness and the quality of life of the participating caregivers. It was used for data analysis, descriptive statistics, normality tests, Studen's T, Mann Withney's U and Wilcoxon's Significant Ranges for intergroup and intragroup comparisons. The intervention “PaliActive Caregivers” consisted of a face-to-face educational strategy with two face-to-face meetings of 15 and 60 minutes, included written and virtual educational material, as well as explanations by an expert nurse. Results: the percentage of study recruitment was 96.09% and the follow-up rate was 56.91%. The overall acceptability of the participants with the intervention was 4.91 out of 5. The participants reported that the intervention helped them strengthen physical care, facilitate coping and strengthen support, spirituality and relationships. Neither the nursing intervention "PaliActive Caregivers" nor conventional care had significant effects on the uncertainty in illness or the quality of life of the participating caregivers. Conclusion: The nursing intervention "PaliActive Caregivers" is feasible and acceptable to be performed in family caregivers of patients in palliative care. The intervention did not show significant effects on the variables uncertainty in illness or the quality of life.
