This paper examines the search channel mainly used to find the current employment of formal wage earners in the 23 main cities of Colombia based on their socioeconomic characteristics and characteristics of their employer. The probability of having used a search channel is estimated using a multinomial probit model adjusted for selection bias with data at the individual level from the Gran Encuesta Integrada de Hogares for 2015 and 2019. The results are consistent with the two hypotheses proposed that the probability of using a search channel varies between occupations, education, city, economic sectors, company sizes and whether the employer is from the public or private sector.
