Abstract: The paramos are located in high altitudes of the tropical ecosystems where endemism and speciation take place. This is one the best and strategic hotspot of biodiversity due to water dynamics, carbon sinks and sources of information for paleoecological studies. In order to, preserve and renovate the vegetation, manipulate the temperature conditions and sedimentary environment in the northeast of Colombia for the last 13,000 years; We have developed a multiproxy study (pollen, stratigraphy, geochemistry, ignition losses and 14C AMS dates) of the PB1 sedimentary core of the Páramo de Berlín, located at 74 ° 49'24.2''W, 07 ° 06'37.4''N at 3,570 AOD. The record began in the cold event called Younger Dryas around 12726 Cal yr BP, this was a very wet pulse with a tendency towards dry towards the end; Early Holocene (11780-8260 Cal yr BP) was a dry period, with a hiatus between 11561-9658 Cal and r BP probably caused by exposure and sediment loss; The Middle Holocene (8260-4160 Cal yr BP) it was a very humid period and, the Late Holocene has been very variable, dry at the beginning and humid at the end of the record. Some abrupt events are recognized, such as the dry pulses of 11.7, 8.2, 4.2, and 2.2 Cal and r BP. We have compared these records with other high resolution ones and it allows us to conclude that most of the north of Colombia is homogeneous due to to the results of the weather conditions on the differents Holocene and Tardiglacial-Holocene ages in contradistinction to the asynchronous transition of the Cariaco Basin. The possible cause of this behaviour is the variation in the trend of the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).
