Además, que si un sistema de localización tiene errores bajos en la ubicación de descargas cerca de estos ramales, es posible resolver la ambigüedad y determinar el lugar aproximado de localización de la falla. dc.description.abstract | Taking into account the need to reduce the time for locating faults in power distribution networks, this work deals with the study of an efficient technique for locating a three-phase or single-phase fault that occurs on a main feeder. This technique is based on the analysis of different components of the frequency spectrum extracted from the voltage signals measured at a single point of the feeder. When a fault occurs, traveling waves are produced that propagate between the fault location and the substation, and elsewhere along the main feeder, network branches, and back to the substation. By identifying the frequency components incorporated in the traveling waves, it is possible to determine the section and the approximate distance of the fault. The applied method presents an ambiguity in the location of faults for those that occur in branches that are connected to the same node of the main feeder, due to the similarity of the frequency spectra produced by these faults in those branches. According to the above, the method is based on the correlation of the location of atmospheric discharges that can indirectly impact the network, in order to identify the node where the induced voltage has a high probability of having produced a failure. As a result of this work, a test distribution network was used, consisting of a main feeder and 7 branches, in which three-phase and single-phase faults were made at fixed points along these. The results obtained show a good performance of the method in estimating the location of the faults, presenting a maximum error percentage of their location of 0.005%. With the information provided by the lightning discharge location systems, we obtained that at certain points of the branches that presented ambiguity, a flashover fault could occur for different lightning parameters. Furthermore, if a location system has low errors in the location of discharges near these branches, it is possible to resolve the ambiguity and determine the approximate location of the fault. | |
